OTTAWA - With no deal emerging from the weekend's efforts, Canada Post is focusing on saving the holiday season deliveries that are so critical for retailers, charities and Canadians.

While negotiations continue, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) continues strike activity in Kelowna, B.C., in Edmonton, Alta., and in Saint John, N.B.

OTTAWA – While negotiations continue, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) began strikes on Friday in the main cities of Manitoba: Winnipeg (except the processing plant), Brandon, Portage la Prairie, The Pas, Dauphin, Flin Flon and Thompson. Strikes also started Friday in Edmonton, Alta. and in Port Hope, Orangeville and Markham, Ont. Strikes also continue in Moncton and Saint John, N.B., and in one letter carrier depot in downtown Toronto.

Despite lengthy discussions and continued proposals by Canada Post to respond to the union’s demands through three rounds of mediation, we are still no closer to a deal.

Today, Canada Post advised the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) that it has filed Notices of Dispute with the Minister of Labour in ongoing negotiations with CUPW-Urban and Rural and Suburban Mail Carriers (RSMC). These notices ask the Minister to appoint a conciliator in each negotiation.
